The First Reason Ads Fail - "Your Ad was sent to a Dead List"

Since this falls in the “Everybody Knows This” category … we’ll keep it short… but there might be some surprises here… so let’s get started…

1. Stale List - Lists have a life cycle and they do grow old, become stale and eventually die… People stop responding, opt out or simply change their email addresses…  It happens!

… of course there’s another reason you’re already familiar with…

2. Black Hole Email Address - For many years now, admins have encouraged members to use a second email address to receive mail, so they don’t clutter their primary email account; it’s called a List Address.  Sounds like a great idea, except…. People treat it like a DUMP Email address & ads seldom get read!

This has become a very common practice with marketers today!  Particularly those using Safelists

DON’T GIVE UP ON SAFELISTS QUITE YET!

Newbies join these sites in droves, and they haven’t learned all of the tricks…. most still read their emails…  A good ad will get them to respond

Some safelists abort the email ad you just placed, if you close the window without logging out first… Make it a habit to Log Out of Safelists before closing the window!

3. Your Ad was sent to an Almost Dead List – Promises, Promises, Promises… You receive an email like this one boasting a huge list

I received this email that said...

Free Traffic Sucks, I need Your Help!

Then they proceeded to offer me 50,000 Guaranteed Visitors for FREE… and 1,000 FREE Visitors just for joining

The Site I was sent to is a Safelist with a Real Time Member Count of only 5484 Members including Me…

After Mailing my most responsive ad to the list, I tracked only 34 hits

I’m still waiting for the 50,000...  He does need our HELP!

1. The non-existent list - It goes like this… you receive an email with the one of these headlines

Yahoo Mega Mailer - We Send to 33 Million Daily

YouTube Mailer - We Send to 12 Million Daily

Auto Mail 96 MILLION - 1 Click Send From Our Servers!

The claims are almost unbelievable and yet many marketers think what if?... The huge numbers and very low price is the hook, and unsuspecting marketers spend literally millions of dollars on this scam every year.  Many of these places even tell you that you can send mail multiple times a day… When you know the truth you’ll see that its absolutely ridiculous!

The TRUTH! Your mailing is never sent to anyone… the second you hit the send button your email is deleted…  These lists will never bring you any traffic; they are a TOTAL RIPOFF…

***IMPORTANT***

Here’s why…

Harvesting email addresses from places like YouTube, CraigsList, Gmail, Yahoo, Ebay, Paypal and all the others is almost impossible, but…

There are those Super Geeks that can do the impossible; but, they certainly aren’t selling their list for such a small fee, if they sell it at all.  These lists are considered GOLD and many are highly targeted with the potential for extremely huge earnings.

The real problem begins with sending email to these huge lists…

The major email providers like Gmail, Yahoo, AOL and others have highly sophisticated SPAM prevention…  They provide these FREE Email services for one reason and one reason only, because it gives them exposure to their real revenue source… advertising…

They are not willing to risk their huge billion dollar revenue over legal disputes with the FCC for someone else’s irresponsible email submissions….

They will block any IP address and deny mailing for violating any of the following conditions:

• sending mail too fast – typically the limit is 500 to 1000 per hour

• sending to excessive dead email addresses – lists must be clean

• high spam content

• x-rated material

• bad html

• and much more…

For these reasons, real professional mailing services must pay hosts for multiple servers with dedicated IP addresses and extremely sophisticated filters to prevent email denial… Hosts are not willing to run the risk of having their IP addresses permanently blacklisted for flagrant violations…

Hosts typically run tight ships and will throw anyone off their servers for even the slightest violation.

The Bottom Line: None of these over hyped services being marketed could ever comply…

Rule of Thumb: If the mailing list company isn’t charging thousands of dollars to send your mail to millions of people, it’s a scam…

They use type of bot; a deceptive technical trick that auto clicks your ad then reports to you that it was sent out 3000 times, except they were all sent to the same IP address… they dumped your ad without any members ever receiving your mailing.

Without ad tracking, you would never know about it and maybe continue to waste your time or worse your money buying more advertising from program x and the predator admin who runs it…

3. The Hijacked List – While this isn’t criminal it certainly is disrespectful !

Admin Z has opened up a great program that you join and promote…  You build a nice list and some people even upgrade earning you commissions.

Not a bad start… until…

A month later Admin Z opens another program and immediately sends out a notice to all of his upgraded members at his previous program… bypassing their sponsors

By the time you read the email about his new program he has already gotten your upgraded referrals to join his new program under him…

He just stole your paying customers’ right out from under you… Now your personal list is left with just the freebie seekers, why bother?

Admins should respect their JV Partners by giving them plenty of notice prior to launch.  Admins should also give their JV Partners at least 24 hours of non-competing marketing time after launch…  only then should everyone be fair game and the admins can start their own advertising campaign!

It’s a matter of respect and courtesy to those that have helped them grow their business…
